Working with BTC Prague
We are working with BTC Prague on the security posture of this year's edition. Our scope is a full independent security audit of the event, plus a dedicated advisory track for speakers, VIP attendees. We work directly with BTC Prague's organising team and with the on-site security teams that will be on the floor during the conference.
Prague is one of the safer capitals in Europe. You can walk almost anywhere, at almost any hour, and feel at ease. For most attendees, the biggest risk of the week is over-ordering at dinner.
But "safe by default" is not the same as "secure by design." When tens of thousands of Bitcoiners gather in one venue, including some of the most publicly recognised, most doxxed, and highest-net-worth figures in the industry, the bar has to be higher than the city average. BTC Prague was already asking the right questions before anyone asked them to. That is the kind of engagement we enjoy most.
The scope of work
Our job is to look at every layer of the conference, from the first checkpoint at the gate to the last car leaving the after-party, and ask the questions a motivated adversary would ask. We then sit down with two groups inside the BTC Prague operation:
The organising team, on planning, access control, VIP flow, communications, and incident protocols.
The on-site security teams, on threat picture, posture, escalation paths, VIP procedures, and rehearsals.
The scope covers the full event lifecycle: the threat picture going in, the security posture on the ground, the protection needs of high-profile guests, and the emergency procedures that hopefully never get used but must exist.
BTC Prague already runs one of the most professionally organised events in the Bitcoin calendar. The goal is to take a strong operation and make it measurably better, transparently, so attendees, speakers, and sponsors know what level of care is being put into their safety.
What changed in the last two years
Targeted attacks, kidnappings, and home invasions against publicly known crypto holders are no longer rare events. Our own dataset documents 75 cases in 2025 alone (full data at stats.gart.io), and the trend has continued to climb in 2026. Being publicly associated with Bitcoin, as a founder, creator, executive, or well-known holder, now comes with a personal security dimension that did not exist a decade ago.
Conferences are the one time of year when many of these individuals are in the same physical place, on a published schedule, surrounded by strangers who share their interest in bitcoin. That concentration is what makes the event work. It is also what creates a serious duty of care for organisers.
BTC Prague has chosen to treat that duty the way it treats everything else: seriously, professionally, without cutting corners.
A note from BTC Prague to attendees
For the vast majority of our guests, nothing about your experience will change, beyond the quiet confidence that comes from knowing the people looking after you have done their homework.
A few things worth knowing:
- Our security personnel on site speak English. You do not need to worry about the language barrier in a stressful moment.
- Our team handles badge control and incident response. If you experience harassment, suspect you are being followed, have something stolen, feel unsafe, or witness something that worries you, find the nearest member of our security team. That is what they are there for.
- We have dedicated protocols for incidents involving VIP and VVIP guests, including discreet escort options and safe locations.
- If you prefer not to approach staff in person, the official event app and venue signage will list help points and contact details before the conference.
- Additional venue-specific details, including entry flow, access control, and transport recommendations, will appear in the official attendee briefing closer to the event.)*
What we will not publish
We will not publish the specifics of what we find or recommend. That, by design, is not something you share with the public.
BTC Prague has given us full access and full cooperation, both at the organising level and with the on-site security teams. In our experience, that is the single biggest predictor of whether a security programme works.
