What's new

  • Add your name when signing in: if your account has no display name, a new screen asks for it instead of letting you through with a blank profile.
  • Warning dialogs: dialogs can now show a distinct warning state, plus a circular loading spinner while they work.
  • Avatar badges: the small status badge on a profile picture can now sit at the top, at the bottom, or be hidden.
  • Your data is now encrypted on your device. The app's local database is protected with full encryption at rest, so it can't be read even if someone has access to your phone's storage.
  • Notifications hide sensitive content on the lock screen. Message details are no longer visible until you unlock.
  • Screenshots are blocked on the private-key sign-in screen, the screen where you enter your nsec (your secret account key). This prevents other apps, and accidental screenshots, from capturing it.
  • Blurred backdrop behind bottom sheets, so the panel you're using stands out from what's behind it.

Changed

  • Refreshed look for snackbars (the brief messages that slide in at the bottom of the screen), status banners, list rows and buttons. New accent bar, corrected spacing, colors and text sizes. Top-bar subtitles are a bit larger and easier to read.
  • Updated wording in various places.

Fixed

  • Stopping one alert no longer looks like you stopped all of them. With multiple alerts running, ending one showed watchers a stop notice that suggested the others had ended too. Only the alert you stopped is now reported.
  • Signing with an external app works again. If you sign in using a separate signer app rather than pasting your key, the connection no longer breaks when one relay goes offline.
  • No more blank screen after signing in when a permission is missing. You now get a notice explaining what's needed.
  • Chat messages stay in the right order after an alert.
  • The sign-in screen no longer offers external signer apps when you don't have one installed.
  • Updated logo and corrected status and navigation bar colors.
  • Various smaller fixes to chats, sign-in and identity restore.
  • The alert button's progress ring no longer snaps away after you finish holding it. It unwinds smoothly.
  • No more false "permission missing" warnings right after launch; the app now waits for a definitive answer before deciding.
  • Minor error message fixes.

Privacy & security hardening

This release includes a broad round of privacy and security work: tightened verification of who sent a message before the app acts on it, stricter handling of secret keys so they can't reach logs or diagnostic output, and reduced data collection in profile images, crash reports and feedback submissions.
