What's new
- Gart now keeps track of whether the version you have installed is still supported. When a newer version is out, Settings shows an update marker and the version row on the About screen takes you straight to where you can get it. When your version is too old to be supported at all, Gart tells you and asks you to update before you carry on. And if you have not opened Gart in a while, it lets you know, so you do not find out only when something stops working.
- When you remove someone from a group, Gart renews that group's keys so the person you removed can no longer read what the group sends. If that renewal does not go through, Gart now tells you and lets you retry, instead of reporting the removal as complete.
Fixed
- Messages and alerts that arrived while a group's keys were being renewed could be discarded and marked as already handled, so they never reached you and were not retried. Nothing is dropped during a key renewal now.
- Gart could crash while starting in the background when it opened its encrypted local storage.
- If you sign with an external signer — a separate app that holds your secret account key and signs on your behalf — Gart crashed when background work needed a signature it could not ask you for. It no longer crashes, and it no longer retries those requests over and over in the background, which was draining battery.
- Stopping a live alert also cleared a test alert that the same person had running at the time. Stopping an alert now only clears that alert.
- Background tasks could sometimes fail to run after device restart. This is now fixed.
Privacy & security
This release includes work on how a group's keys are renewed after someone is
removed, on how your account key and signing are handled when the app is not
open, and on the encrypted storage Gart keeps on your device. Update as soon as
this version is available to you.
